Buying a property in a foreign land can be a daunting experience, with many pitfalls and uncertainties for the unwary. All of our concerns evaporated when we found Malta Homes.
Paul Hay is as good as his word. He claims to offer a professional and no-nonsense service to his clients as well as providing full support “to the expat buying in Malta”. After holidaying in Malta for several years, my wife and I decided on Malta for our retirement home and being conveniently located close to mainland Europe, would also allow us to keep close contact with our friends and family. We gave Malta Homes a wide brief as we didn’t want to restrict our choice, but quickly settled for a Penthouse. Paul acted as proxy for the signing of the preliminary agreement which was completed within 10 days whilst we returned home to Switzerland. On a follow-up visit a member of the Malta Homes staff, was at our disposal for an entire week taking us to various stores to choose furniture and fittings which, had been preselected based on our shopping list. At the end of the week, just before leaving for Switzerland the true spirit of Malta Homes policy came to the fore! Paul, told us that the surveyors report showed certain irregularities in the construction of our chosen property which, we would probably not have identified unless we decided to sell the property at some time in the future. Paul’s openness and transparency cost him the sale! We returned to Malta some weeks later, homeless having sold our property in Switzerland. Paul again came to our rescue in ensuring we had temporary accommodation and again putting the same member of staff at our disposal to find another property. Having spent time previously with Drew, he had a good idea of our likes and dislikes and within 24hrs of arrival, showed us a Penthouse property with arguably one of the best views in Malta! The preliminary contract was exchanged within 10 days and completion followed about 4 weeks later!!
Paul and his team were exemplary in dealing not only with our housing needs but our ups and downs during our searches in a very understanding and sympathetic manner. When Paul claims to offer a professional and no-nonsense service he means it, but it comes with a large dose of sympathetic understanding of his clients (continuously changing) needs. He has kept contact with us since our move and is always available to help in any way using his vast knowledge of the “Maltese system” and his many useful contacts.

We decided to buy a property for sale in Malta after visiting over the last six years. By researching the Internet we contacted Paul Hay of Malta Homes as he had a good selection of property. After discussing our requirements with Paul he locally sourced the best properties on the market within our budget and came back to us with a good selection of property around Malta. As we knew Mellieha particularly well we asked him to find property for sale mostly in that area and to arrange appointments as soon as possible.
The visit was a success and with Paul and Racine’s (Paul’s PA) help and support, placed an offer for the property in May and completed the sale in August. We have no hesitation in recommending Malta Homes; they maintained excellent communication with us via email/phone during the whole buying process and afterwards to ensure that everything ran quickly and smoothly. Our move from the UK to look at Malta Property would not have been achieved, without the assistance from Paul Hay and Racine of Malta Homes Estate Agents.
Since our first meeting in May 2008, Paul helped us find our dream Malta property, after meeting other estate agents that really didn't hit the mark. We explained to Paul exactly what we were looking for in terms of our ideal Maltese property, the area we wanted and budget. The regular contact we received in the UK impressed us and on our return visit Paul spent two days with us viewing property that met our requirements. Needless to say, we found exactly what we were looking for. From then on, our purchase proceeded smoothly, Paul not only introduced us to the builders, but recommended a good English speaking Notary. Paul became our Attorney to successfully conclude the legal contract of purchase in August 2008. We are now happily living in Malta, but Paul's services went above and beyond the call of duty, spending time with us visiting suppliers to help us find various requirements to the likes of a new kitchen, DIY and Garden Centres to which Paul accompanied us to organising and supervising the installation of air conditioning plus a whole bunch more and is always available for helpful advice having now moved in.

Having spent many holidays in Malta and Gozo for some years, my wife and I decided to take a look at the property market, so after looking on Malta Homes website, we gave them a call. Malta Homes picked us up at our hotel in Gozo in the morning to look at properties on the island. This was carried out in a very friendly laid back, but professional manner without any pressure selling! We were shown a variety of properties, some finished, some unfinished and by 5.00pm we had decided on an unfinished property in Xaghra. Malta Homes appointed a builder to carry out building works required to finish our new holiday home and now 12 months on we have a beautiful 3-bedroom Apartment.
